| Im confused some ranges don't allow steel core and others don't allow both. Whats the difference. I was at a range that didn't let me shoot steel case bullets, which were lead with copper jacket bullets. Can anyone clear this up. When they say no steel core, does that mean no steel case (or shell)?? |
Places with steel targets especially hate steel core ammo because they'll ruin the targets. Some paper punching ranges don't allow steel core ammo because if the bullet hits a rock it can spark and start a fire. Yeah it's a long shot but I've seen that it's possible. Steel cased ammo is frowned on at some ranges because it makes separating the steel cased from the brass "harder". It's not really, all you need is a magnet. But those places usually like to take the left over brass and sell it for scrap or to reloaders. So those places feel that you're dirtying up their brass and don't like people shooting steel cased ammo. |
