I don't see another optics forum, other than the one under AR-15,
and this sure doesn't go there.

I bought a BSA 4X32 Air Rifle/.22 scope Thursday.   $18.75 + tax at Academy
Put it on my air rifle, GAMO Varmint Hunter, Friday.
Shot one 3-shot group at a plate.  (range about 20 yds, no wind, seated, off-hand)
Adjusted windage/elevation; shot once dead-center of the plate;
shot again, hit the first hole;  Shot again, 1/2" left + high.
WTF???!!!
The reticle rotated clockwise about 20 degrees.
I loosen the rings, remount the scope to get a proper reticle, shoot three more times
and the reticle was now rotated approximately 45 degrees from its original position.

I hope the next one works better.

I know it's not top-of-line,
but I expected to get more
than five shots out of it.

the "shock absorbing" rubber coating on a red dot I bought from them peeled off before I even mounted the gun. yep, I returned it

I have a 6x24x40 mildot BSA scope that came on an FAL that I bought from a fellow member. Don't know how well it holds zero as I removed it from the rifle before I fired it, just wasn't willing to chance it.

I now use it as a spotting scope.

I have a BSA scope and two red dots and none of them work worth anything. BSA is the worst optics I have ever had. Even my my cheap target sports stuff from CDNN works but not my BSA stuff.

Well, I had heard horror stories, but took a chance.

So, what's a good scope for an air rifle.
Something that will stay on target and withstand
the air rifle "reverse recoil".
Maybe in the $100-150 range

edit:  be there such things?

I bought this Burris 3-9X30 fullfieldfor my RWS 54 but it's above what you want to spend

That's a good looking rifle.   I hadn't heard of them.
Is it very heavy?

I like Burris a lot.
That was my first choice when thinking about a scope.
I have a Burris compact 4.5-14x32 (sumthin like that) on
a Rem 700, .300 rsaum that is an incredible scope.

But I'm not sure I want to spend that much right now.
(...other expenses to consider...)
I just want something that will stay sighted in.

I'm sorry, but BSA scopes are junk.
