| So on a hunting scope, is the general rule "you get what you pay for"? Are there any good deals, or great scopes for lesser cost? Or is it a Leupold/Zeiss world out there? |

Generally speaking, you get what you pay for in my experience with glass, but it depends on what your scoping. If you have a target/match/sniper rifle with a long heavy barrel that can shoot 1/2 MOA, shell out the money for a top scope. With a .22 you can get away with a low end scope though I would stear clear of the cheapest ones. I f you have a decent rifle capable of <2 MOA precision, go middle of the road... Also, try the ar15 optics thread, people ask this same question there pretty regularly. What do you want to put glass on, and how far are you hunting, anyway??? |
I posted here because I figured more people would see it... It would be on a Tikka .300 WSM, mostly for hunting, not shooting more than 400 yards, but alot of low-light business. |
Agreed. A middle of the road scope, should be fine for inside 400 yds. and Bushnell does make good scopes. And though I didn't say it before, don't go cheap on the mount or rings, either. I think larger objective lens are preferred for low loght shooting, but its not my thing so I'll let someone else chime in on that |
