I was thinking about getting the FR-8 or the FR-7.  Which is better and what kind of price is reasonable.  I am also thinking about getting an Ishapore Enfield chambered in 308.  Thanks for any feedback.

FR-8 is better, you can use 7.62 NATO in it due to the fact it is stronger.

But overall the Enfield will be stronger due to improved metalurgy after the war.

FYI: There is an C&R section here where you may get some more responses to this question.

FWIW, FR7 & FR8's are not really easy to find these days, whereas the Enfield 2A's can be purchased at AIM surplus today. I own an Enfield 2A, apart from some small issues, it is a great rifle: it has a 12 round detachable magazine (which should be loaded with stripper clips), and it was made as recently as 1965. Fr7&8's are great rifles, but finding replacement parts is not going to be as easy as the 2A. I would recommend not shooting commerical .308 in any of these rifles, but if you insist on commercial, Remingtons reduced recoil loads would probably be a good way to for that route...
