I am looking for a 7.62 nato with a bolt hold open rifle. Also with mags that are pre ban. Cause i am in NY and blah blah blah... Also not to bust the budget not greater than 1k. Any ideas? |
Maybe an M1 converted to .308? |

Quality 7.62 semi's aren't cheap and it's better to buy quality now than save a few bucks and wish you had just gotten something more later. NewYork is one hell of a piehole state for gun rights and with any of your choices you'll need to find preban mags and use a muzzle brake atleast to get by if you want highcaps and something on the barrel end as far as I know. I suggest you save a little more money to put to it and buy a nice SA M1A Scout. You'll get a fine rifle, that will have a lifetime warranty with Springfield Inc. which is not far from you and you can turn it into a great precision semi if you want while still having a versatile, very maneuverable and durable rifle for whatever you may put it through. | Looking for all but competition. I own 1 ar15 just i want up the firepower a bit. I think it is coming down to the AR-10 and FAL but i hear that AR-10 i am not getting any preban mags as well. Also fal is moving past the 1k point. Know of any good sites where i can get one for ohh lets say starting at 800? (ar or fal) |

Rock River Arms is supposed to come out with an AR10 type that uses FAL magazines. Bushmaster originally came out with it a few years ago, but there were problems with it, so they sold the rights to RRA. I have seen the Bushmaster version and almost bought one. I have not seen a RRA version yet, although they do show them on their web site. The DPMS is a very nice rifle, however they don't have pre-ban magazines, that I know of, unless you bought the super expensive SR25 magazines. You can find a good used FAL for $600 or build one from a kit for about the same. The DSA FAL's are the best out there. Check out FALFiles.com for more inof on FALs. |

I'd look at the PTR's too. You can probably find one without threading or with a muzzle brake on it for under a grand still or close and preban mags are pretty much what there is period. There great quality rifles that are very reliable and accurate that also have some options for expanding in different directions that you may like. PTR91.com Sarco |
Sorry, I forgot you needed the bolt hold open. I don't always go back to the top post and instead just read the current ones when I come back to a thread.![]() It's too bad really. I don't know how important it is to you because the PTR91 is a great rifle and you should be able to get one in the price range your looking for and preban mags no problem. The rifles got real nice setup options. HK41 G3SG-1 World guns G3 |

Hey i have been looking around at stuff and is the SA58s as good as the stg58s? from dsarms? I am totally leaning towards a fal and right now looks like it will be a kit build. I want to get the reciever frist cause suposedly our newest gov who is antigun-aholic is wnating to put in a DEC guy who is only a piece of paper and pen away from banning hunting in NY with any sort of firearm..... Then the hr1022 thingy ohh god. I am writing to my rep and i only hope all of you can do so as well. Also consider the NRA 1 member stronger. |
