Tax refund time.  If you had an extra $2500 to $3000 would you get a .50 or several smaller arms?   I had considered an M4gery, HK USP Tactical, a few lowers and an M14 variant.  As a little help, here is a list of what I have already:

Bushy AR 20"
AK - SAR1
AK- Yugo Underfolder
Norinco SKS
DSA STG58 FAL on order (taking too long )
G17
G20
G32
Colt Govt Model 45
Couple 12 gauges
S&W models 686 and 29 (.357 and .44mags)
Remington PSS 308

          Advice please :)

Get several smaller guns.

What ever tickles your fancy.  Get a FAL off the boards, maybe another pistol and rifle?

The 50 is meant to be shot at long ranges.  Unless you live somewhere in NC where you have access to a 1000 yard range I would get other firearms.

I'd love to have a 50,  but like Max said, where to shoot would be a problem.
Sorry to see your FAL is taking so long to get. That's my dream rifle. (of course so was the HK 91 until I shot it awhile)hinking.gif

Go M14 variant, you'll be glad you did. It's one of the sweetest actions out there and a very versatile weapon that moves from defense, to long range precision shooting and hunting well.

Not a bash but If you have to use a tax return to get a 50, you can't afford it. 3k will get you a gun, but no optics and to ammo. Unless yo have a min 500 yard range its a waste, its still fun though.

Get multiple guns instead 12ga, PSS, and any AK- you got all ranges covered.

50's are cool, but how often will you really be able to use it?   Most ranges either don't allow it or are too short for you to really use it at it's intended range.   The rifle costs big bucks, the optics will cost big bucks and the ammo will cost more than double anything else you have.

Maybe you have both the cash and a good place to shoot it.   If you do, then buy it.   Given your choices I would opt for a couple of different smaller rifles.   I've got a slightly smaller chunk of change coming in the form of a bonus myself in March, (the tax return is already spoken for), and what I'm planning on buying is night vision.

I have the $$ for a .50 and optics but absoloutly NO safe place to shoot one close by.  I can't see making a day trip just to shoot.  I also have land that I could just maybe get 300-350 yards out of in range but I don't feel safe shooitng a .50 there.  That's the #1 reason I have not bought one... kind of like shooting a .300 Win Mag at 50 yards IMO....

I would either get some "extras" for the guns you already have or stock up on ammo.  If you don't have at least one M1A then you really need to get one.  Either that or invest in a nine M1 or M1 Carbine.

You have the basics covered already so if you want a 50 you should get one. They are on the endangered list so if you want one, now's the time to do it.

They are a hoot to shoot but it really just boils down to what you'll want to shoot more.

A 50 is like the exotix pet in your gun collection – care and feeding is a bit more complicated compared to your other guns (wait ‘til you go shopping for a gun case for it) but if you have a good place to shoot it and can afford ammunition and accessories for it then there’s nothing else like it.
