fn49 and Hakim

those rifles feed off of the stripper clips?

[#3]
Both are designed to be fed from stripper clips.  The Hakim has a detachable magazine, but it is similar in intent as the Enfield rifle's detachable magazine.  The FN is generally regarded as the better choice between the two; as such the FN is generally more expensive than the Hakim.  Here are some links with some more info on the rifles.

There are the Yugo M76 8mm rifles if you have $2400 to spend, several places are still selling them

Should only need a 8mm chambered barrel.

hmmm if it is that easy i just might go that route.
it looks like those FN 49's are around 6 to 8 hundred dollars.
how is the accuracy with the 8mm round in the FN or egyptian guns that were mentioned?

the HAKIM  looks more appealing as i can pick one up for 300$ compared to double that for the other one...

Cenutry has a beltfed 8mm (semiauto) Yugo M53 (basically a yugo version of German MG42)

Only $2200.

You asked.

I only paid $400 for mine a couple years ago, it's no Garand but putting all ten rnds into a paper plate at 100yrds was no problem and that was with surplus ammo.

Yes I hosed it down with windex at the range and it got a warm bath at home.

If you are going to get a Hakim, be sure to be very conscious of the gas setting on the rifle.  More than a few people have blown out mags, and done other damage with the gas system not set properly for the ammo.

Yugo M48 is the way to go.  You can get a really good one for less than $150 with a bright shiny bore.  I paid $109 for mine at AIM and I'm happy as shit.

aim still sells them for that price?
i found a refinnished one with composite stock and a "trigger job" for 190$ shipped.
so 210$ with FFL fees and its mine
100$ sounds a lot better though

I'm not a huge fan of corrosive ammo in the first place, but I shoot it in my Mausers and Enfields.  I don't shoot corrosive ammo in any gas operated weapons, though.  There's too many places for those corrosive salts to hide.

AIM is out of M48s and M24/47s.  When they had them, they were selling for $109 and $99, respectively.

any chance of them getting those back in stock?
how long ago were they selling them at that price?

i shot corosive ammo out of my AK and had no problems, i am pretty anal about cleaning though. always clean right after i get back from the range.

Honestly, I wouldn't go the 8mm route.  The surplus is drying up. Read This Thread

The cheap prices you see today won't last much longer.  I bought a bunch when it was cheap, so I can keep my M48 happy.

i figure its better than paying 160$ per 1K of 7.62X39
iif i pick up a mauser and 10K rounds i will be set for a long time

edit:
annyone know about the quality of this company and the steyr mannlicher 1895/34?

I have heard good things about J&G.

The Steyr M95 DOES NOT shoot 8mm Mauser, it shoots 8x56 which is a rimmed cartridge.

Depends on the ammo and how much of a puss you are. Romanian ammo I can shoot all day.  Yugo not so much and Turk is one hot load.  Almost up there with 300 Win Mag.  After 80 rounds of Turk you know you went shooting that day and the next.

no offense but the facts of 8mm drying up and being no more are no different than all the crap info ive ben hearing from everyone about firearms in the past year, from doubling in price in the next year or two, all importing stopping and guns eventually being taken away from us,...lol. Its business, yes there prob. will be a reduction in importation, it happens, as cent. deals alot wit this but there is much, much, much 8mm already in circulation and the time it will take for all of it to be bought up will take a while.  On top of that there are plenty of domestic manufactors that sell ammo not too expensive, just not as cheap as imported ammo.   And even if the ammo skyrockets, itll never be higher than current 7.62x 39 prices so,.... i dont see what the big deal is. It may, but i doubt it. At this pt in time, one is to realize esp with our gov't, that guns as time goes on will be more and more limited or more bs regulations will be put on them (or they'll try to), hence another AW ban. Prob wont happen soon , but eventually it will or theyll try, and after seeing AR prices go from $400 in the 80's to $800, to tripling after the AW ban,..... an increase in 8mm ammo for all the times ive taken advantage of it does not bother nor surprise me.

im wondering if i would be able o find a used mouser locally(wisconsin, waukesha area) for less than J&G sales+shipping+ffl, so that works out to be roughly 150$
or would i be better off with a J&G mouser than a gunshow one

is there a significant difference between a turkish and yugo mauser?
i found someone local selling a turkish 8mm mauser + 100 rounds of ammo for 90$

annyone know of a place selling 8mm at a good price? sportsmans guide is out and they had a good price on a 900 round crate.

best i can find is 10 cents a round

update..
i found a local source selling 6K rounds for 10 cents each. the ammo is loose(not in those tin cans) wwII german machine gun ammo.
will i have a problem with this ammo in a mauser?

I believe that machinegun ammo was loaded a lot hotter than rifle ammo.

dont know off the top of my head, but if it was mg ammo i would think is was not hotter but lower due to overheat issues in the 42'. but dont quote me on that.  If they got a nazi mark, wermact eagle w/e be sure to keep some for collector purposes lol, ifs its really ww2. I got about 80-100 rds of org. nazi marked 8mm in strippers so,... itll never be shot ,

i will post pictures and more detail of what i can find out about this ammo when i pick it up
