Bullpup and bolt rifle are not oxymorons. That would imply that they are opposites. Uncommon, unconventional, yeah. I've seen that rifle before, and the bipod set up reminds me of that uber slick futuristic looking Walther rifle. The bipe legs go to a mount point ABOVE the barrel. It's just an uncommon, unconventional way to do it. BTW, I've seen someone make a bullpup from a Swiss K31 straight pull bolt rifle. Interesting concept, and apparently it worked alright. |
The bullpup concept implies a shorter, thus quicker pointing weapon. While a bullpuped bolt action would be as fast in this catagory, quick follow up shots would be a bear... one would almost have to cock it with an ear, making it, in essence, a single shot. This alone almost negates the benefits. There would be a total lack of fluid-of-motion, and awkward. The two terms just seem mutually exclusive. Bullpups best lie in the realm of self-loaders.IMHO. I like the mounting point of the bipod, tucked out of the way, leaving the forearm free and uncluttered. Others seem to "hang out in the wind". I'd like to see the K31 bullpup. Gotta link? buckmeister |

I was aware of the existence of bolt action bullpups, especially the Barrett 50 (I've got elephants running loose in my back 40) Note to self: Self, don't use oxymoron NO more! Thanks for the purdy pictures! buckmeister |
