Excuse my pathetic ignorance...

Ordered a Rem 700 BDL in 300 Win Mag, gun comes in, but it looks like the bolt is not completely closing. You can flip it up, pull it back, close it and pull the trigger. but I swear it just doesnt look like the bolt is locking all the way down.

This is a brand new gun, right out of the box. anyone have any ideas?

Does the bolt handle knob touch the rifle frame?  If it does then it is probably locked in!

Do you have another Rem to check out(don't worry if the answer is no because all staff get a free rifle)!

A little anti-biotics will help that staff!

Did it come with a scope already mounted?   I've played with a couple, and some of the mounts out there have different length screws. If the long one goes in the front, the bolt won't be able to close correctly.

Yep.  That is it.  Also, don't use your base mount screws to plug the wholes if you take your base off. same reason.
