Hello-

1 simple question for those of you lucky enough to own an AUG (not my fav rifle but I respect it anyway)

What do you think of the cross-bolt-type safety?  Seems like it would be hard to switch back on to "safe" how much of a grip change do you need to make to put on safe?  Any other issues with it?

Thanks.

Not an issue for me and while I probably change my grip a little bit, I don't ever notice it and it doesn't slow me down.  I'll check to see exactly what I do when I get home, but I think I use my thumb to go on-safe and trigger finger to go off-safe.

I also like have the option of just going to "fire" for both semi and FA without having to manipulate the safety to switch firing modes.  Hence, the reason I never "upgraded" to the 3 position safety.

I agree with MBSL. The AUG safety is not an issue.

It is fast to switch to fire and safe, much like a shotgun.

Especially under stress its faster to press it to the fire position than switching it on the M4.

its not a real issue. I dont think the AUG is quite as ergonomic as the M4(its best feature..) but the safety is in a natural position.

+1 on that

I'm left-handed....IMO...

The AUG safety is easier to operate than a standard AR selector.

An ambi AR selector is easier than the AUG safety.

I think it is more intuitive(sp) than any other style, could see how it would bother a lefty but in light of the above post i guess not.
