I saw on SIG's site that the SIG 556 will be sold in civilian markets late summer.  I'm looking for a good dealer to pre-order one from.  IMPACT seems to way over book and are long in delivery.  I have a friend still waiting on a PS90 and he was one of the earliest to pre-order.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm going to wait and be sure they come with the SIG folder first.

A couple months ago, someone recommended www.OrdnanceOutsellers.com.  I'm on their list, but apart from that I've never done business with them, so I can't say from personal experience how their delievery dates would compare with someone like Impact Guns.

ETA:  They're not taking deposits.  For the time being, they're just taking names.

Hi Guys:

I am very interested in buying a SIG 556.  I handled the prototypes at the 2006 SHOT Show and they were great!  I have contacted my local Law Enforcement firearms’ dealer who in turn contacted a SIG distributor.  The distributor stated that they should have the SIG 556 available sometime in the August, September, October (2006) range.

I am just going to wait until I see a SIG 556 on my dealer’s shelving, ready to buy.  I am very apprehensive about paying any dealer or distributor a cash money deposit for anything.  Too many questions:

What is the dealer / distributor doing with my money in the meantime?
If I change my mind, how do I get a deposit refund?
What if the dealer / distributor goes out of business, how or do I get my money back?
What assurances do I have from the dealer / distributor that I will get my SIG 556 in the order as stated and I will not be remanded to the bottom of the list or passed over?
If the SIG 556 never becomes available, who determines if and when I get my deposit back?
Is there a written agreement concerning these issues or is it just an oral agreement?

I am old enough to see too many gun owners loose their money on “advance products” cash deposits that never materialized: High Standard’s .44 magnum and .45 Colt revolvers, S&W’s Model 29 and 66 revolvers, Donors and Dixon’s 10mm semi-automatic, and Detonics .45 (mini) semi-automatic.  I a sure that there are more that I cannot think of right now.

Also, as a retired police officer and current paralegal, I know enough about the law to know that if anything goes wrong and you do not get your cash money deposit back, your only recourse is the civil courts (small claims); and, good luck there!  Chances you will have to file from out of state, travel to the court of jurisdiction for one or more appearances; and, even if you get a judgment, good luck on collecting, especially if there is no written contact or the dealer / distributor has closed the business or fled the court’s jurisdiction.  For this amount of money, $200 - $300, you can kiss it good-by.

No thanks, I will keep my money and wait!

Good luck and good shooting!

Good thoughts MP5, I agree completely.  That's one advantage IMPACT has, they don't ask for a nickel up front.  I worry that if I don't pre-order, the price on my dealer's rack will be $300-$500 over retail.  Look at the PS90's for sale on gunbroker, this is the current situation.

The price on the PS90's will probably fall back to normal as supply catches demand (I'm holding out till that happens), however, its hard to say when that will happen.  That's the reason I am wanting to pre-order a SIG 556, I'd like to get one sooner, rather then later at a normal price.
