And how much is too much for a firearm? For me, it is $2400 for an H&K rifle. I eventually want a M-16 but don't think I can save as fast as the prices increase. |
Very true, I have Garands & Carbines that have doubled in value in less than five years. |

Less than $1000. I paid $650 for my preban Colt HBAR in 1990. A few short years later many people valued it at about double that. I never did. Now it's value is back down to closer to what it should be, although I could probably still sell it for more than what I paid for it. So I guess it's still the most valuable firearm I own. The next most expensive gun I own is the heavy barrel 10/22 I built about 8 yrs ago. When I got done and added up the expenses it came to about $750, counting the scope and purchase price of a new 10/22 to start with. Sad to say so far it doesn't seem to shoot much better than the dead stock 10/22 I purchased in 1978. <-----that was my first gut reaction when I realized that. I don't shoot the pig much, but it sure is prudy. I did pay $150 for my Garand many years ago. And another $150 for a Danish parts kit. It probably is worth a bit more than the $400 or so I have wrapped up in it. I buy cheap. Or I couldn't buy at all. But that doesn't mean I don't want a Barrett M82. I fell in lust with them way back 20 yrs ago when they first came out. Still can't afford one.

There we go -- I figured there had to be some big money out there somewhere. I figured I would get trumped easy with my Ed Brown, but the people posting are way more frugal than I am |
