2 questions:
Does the 550 have a last round/bolt hold open device? And
Where can I get a LEO Sig 550 that are now legal for civis. I have heard that they are out there; and that there are complete 550 from parts kits too.

Yes it has a bolt open feature. The bolt catch is activated by pushing it up. It resides on the left side of the gun

You have two options for buying a 55x:

1: buy a pre import ban weapon. They are between 4000-13000 bucks
2: buy a new SIG 556 which is basically the same weapon change to accept AR15 mags and stocks. It goes on sale in August

Ill take one of the 4K models..The cheapest Ive seen one was 8K, most guys try to get closer to 10K out of them. Best bet is to wait for the civilian 556 to be released.

Nobody has heard of 550 other than the original few that were imported? I thought somebody was going to make some out of parts kits (like all the MP5 clones)

Michael from Michael's Machines Sold 922r SIG 550's right after the AWB was lifted from semi auto LEO guns and US made parts. His guns had a price tag of $4,000. This was posted many times on ARF.com and everyone bitched about the price tag. But, Mike had to pay alot of money for the rifles and the parts so he was not making too much money for the hassle.

MM no longer is making 922r SIG 550s and now people are bitching about the look of the cheap 556.

It will be interesting to see if anyone will convert the new SIG 556 to a 550. Larry from CCF has SIG 551's parts kits for $2500 so it will be a costly gun.

Thank you UZI4you
I knew that I was not crazy.
$4k is a resonable amount.
Was it a USA made receiver or did he just put 10 parts in them?
(thanks again Chris)

I don't think he made 550 receivers, rather just put in the 10 parts.
About a month ago there was a LEO SIG 550 for sale in gunbroker.com from a guy in AZ. It was a SBR NFA gun so he could get around the 922r rules. He wanted 8K for his gun. Why bother for the paper work when you can buy a pre-1989 for that price.

I saw that add, but the pictures were of a 550 not a 551or 552 so I dont know what the SBR was about. I think that he might have been mistaken

He's still running the ad. The gun has a 15.7 inch barrel so it's a SBR and you do have to do the 200 dollar tax, etc.

from the picture it looks like the 20 inch barrel. He even advertises it as a 550 and not a 551

I remember when these were offered for sale, but I don't think he ever actually went through with the project.

I assure you, they were worth every penny I paid for both.

Let me be a little clearer, I spoke directly with the seller and he told me the gun was an SBR because the barrel lenght was 15.7 inches...

Wasn't that MSRP?  Won't they probably (hopefully) be a bit cheaper?
