I read alot of people posting about the FN SCAR rifles coming out, the FN 2000 is a done deal and speculation about the AUG and SIG 550 series, but which one would you honestly want to get? I am gonna get one of them, maybe 2, but with limited funds, which would be the best buy? I know we dont know the prices, nor the rep of the SCAR...............give me some honest feedback on these

Sig and I've always wanted an Aug, and well the Sig 550 is... the Sig 550.

The others, well the jury is out. We'll see when they come out.

I will be buying an F2000 this year. the rest are just vaporware until proven otherwise
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 4:04:39 PM EDT
I like the FN2000 as well, and the fact that it takes M-16 mags is a plus.........I have been leaning toward that and the SCAR if it comes out........the SIG is cool, but the speculation of it's price is a big drawback......

robinson's new xcr, and the fn fs2000.. only other rifles i really want, and maybe the ps90 with as a sbr
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 4:09:53 PM EDT
Poll required, say (1) FN F2000, (2) FN P90, (3) Robinson Arms XCR, (4) piston AR15, and (5) Shrike .

Robinson XCR
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 4:18:48 PM EDT
FS200
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 4:41:39 PM EDT
I'd buy them in this order.

1. FN ARM (H).
2. Swiss Arms/SIG SG551.
3. FN ARM (L).
4. Steyr AUG A3.
5. FN FS2000.
6. Robinson XCR.

The P90 is already out so I didn't include it. I'd like to have one eventually, but I've got other things to do first.

*If* I had the disposable income, I'd be seriously looking at the FN 2000 and if it becomes available, the SCAR Heavy. I just think they're both cool. And I like the notion of a new and interesting 7.62 rifle compared to the legacy systems around now.

Wouldn't mind an AUG, just isn't high on my wish list for some reason. Really couldn't care less about any SIG rifle, never heard anything bad about them but they just don't have anything about them that would make me pony up whatever SIG is bound to want for them.Probably as much ignorance on my part as anything, but I can only be interested in so much
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 5:21:05 PM EDT
FN SCAR & SIG 550 series for me.
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 6:12:37 PM EDT
The compactness of the 16" AUG is very appealing to me.
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 10:02:50 PM EDT
All of the above
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 10:20:52 PM EDT
1. SCAR-L and SCAR-H (must-have)

2. SIG 55x (same as above)

3. AUG (I already have an AUG, but I wouldn't mind another)

4. FS2000 (maybe, would like to handle it first)

99. XCR
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 10:52:57 PM EDT
FN ARM-H
FN ARM-L

2nd of each of the above.

Maybe a 550/551 if the price was within reason (including magazines). Not that I'm expecting that to happen.

SP90 would be fun
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 11:53:36 PM EDT
1)XCR
2)FN 2000
3)SCAR
99)55x

FN2000 if I can afford it.

Link Posted: 1/14/2006 12:32:54 AM EDT
Link Posted: 1/14/2006 1:11:55 AM EDT
The primary would be a matched set of FN SCARs (light and heavy). AR style ergonimics plus a bunch of extra desired features that users typically do as upgrades (free float, long rail, etc. etc.). And a modern platform .308 to boot. Good stuff.

The FN FS2000 sound neat, but I've neither held one, nor seen anyone shoot one. For what they are, I might just stick with the AR platform.

The Sig I don't know too much about.

The AUG, well I've shot one. They're okay, but kind of in the same line as the FS2000.

So, when it comes time to deposit $3000 for two rifles, most likely it will be the SCARs/ARMs if they materialize.
Link Posted: 1/14/2006 8:40:57 AM EDT
FS2000. We need a poll here!
Link Posted: 1/14/2006 8:44:50 AM EDT
XCR 7.62, wether it will ever come.. who knows.
Link Posted: 1/14/2006 9:10:08 AM EDT
A reliable, easily opticable 7.62X51 rifle is what's needed IMO and as soon as one proves out, I'll considered buying it.

I guess that means FN ARM-H.
Link Posted: 1/14/2006 2:18:25 PM EDT
None. None of them really do anything that my AR, M1A, or M1 Carbine don't already. In addition, they are expensive and relatively rare (hard to find parts).

Maybe I'd consider a SCAR or a FN2000 after it's been in service someplace for a couple of decades.
Link Posted: 1/14/2006 5:01:59 PM EDT
None of them really have any appeal, but if I had to choose one and the money for it just fell into my lap I would go with an AUG + 16", 20", and 24"HB w/bipod barrels.
Link Posted: 1/14/2006 11:03:59 PM EDT
I would buy the following if or when released

Sig 55x series rifle
HK 416
FN Scar Mk 16
F2000
PTR PSG-1 verison
Link Posted: 1/15/2006 6:13:15 AM EDT
xcr or the scar H will let you guys know how it all looks after shot show :)
Link Posted: 1/15/2006 7:09:33 AM EDT
1. & 2. FN SCAR (both of course)

3. & 4. HK 416 (and since we're dreaming the 417 also)

5. SIG 55x

1,000. (FN-2000/ps90) you guys can have the ray-guns

Link Posted: 1/15/2006 8:11:08 AM EDT
Sig 550 and if that dont materielize, a Mark16(SCAR-L)
Link Posted: 1/15/2006 9:35:24 AM EDT
#1 SIG 550/551 or even better a SIG 550 "sniper" I am still crossing my fingers to see of a SIG rifle will be for sale.

#2 FN FS2000. I have handled these before, but never shot one. I like the AUG better, but I like the fact the FN can be used be right and left handed shooters with out switching bolts.

#3 FN SCAR H. I don't even like the looks of the SCAR rifle, and I don't see what all the buzz is about. But I like the fact that it is .308, and they will be a collector item someday.

#4 FN PS90. These are great. I like the PS90 over the FS2000, but the lack of ammo and the cost of ammo is the only down side to the PS90. Once there is a good supply of ammo, the PS90 might be #1.

#5 This spot is saved for anything from HK or Steyr. As much as I want to see the AUG A3, and HK 416, G36 or UMP for sale in the U.S. I just don't think it will happen. FN has been the only company that has said they would build semi auto rifles for the U.S. ( already are witht the PS90 on the market) and have a U.S. plant to build. Unlike HK, and Steyr.

none, curious and relics are for me, these new rifles will be plenty in the future, C&Rs will be obsolete.

Id like to try the FN SCAR L or H. I've already got an FN FNC, its probably the best quality 5.56 weapon Ive used, although it is heavy. I wouldnt mind having an AUG A3, already have an early model. Unfortunately, I spoke to Karl at Steyr and he told me they had zero plans of producing or distributing new AUGs in the US-just another impact arms wish list.....FN seems to be pretty willing to cater to the US market and they already have numerous military contracts here (M16, M249, M240, SCAR, etc). I agree they are going to be the best source for civilian shooters in the future. Dont count on Steyr, SIG, HK...
Link Posted: 1/16/2006 3:13:04 AM EDT
the ps90's showing up have made me think that FN is going to become THE player in this market soon, and being that they are the first to step up to the plate and release something totally new on the civvie market, well, I am going to have to support that. depending on ammo availability, I might get a ps90, most likely a fs2000 though.
Link Posted: 1/16/2006 7:49:53 AM EDT
I would love to see Steyr and SIG come out with their products sometime in the future........but for now, my options are gonna be an FN2000 and the SCAR-L. Since I have an FAL, I will leave the SCAR-H of the list, and hopefully the others will come along soon
Link Posted: 1/16/2006 9:21:30 AM EDT
New? Maybe on of those P.O.F. uppers. That's about it. I would like a 7.72 semi auto as I have almost 3000 round of milsurp ammo and only one bolt action rifle for it.
Link Posted: 1/16/2006 12:27:28 PM EDT
I'm actually highly anticipating the SCAR-L and SCAR-H.

I don't understand the hype about the Sig rifles. They are an old design that doesn't offer anything over an AR. I suppose it's the "neato" factor, and the fascination with a gun that's not available here.

The FN-2000 is a non-starter. I've shot one, and saw it jam repeatedely because of that goofy forward ejection system.

The Aug is boring to me.

The SCAR seems to "fix" the "problems" with the AR system, and considering it will have a 7.62 variant, is the most appealing to me anyway.

Link Posted: 1/16/2006 9:25:04 PM EDT
I dont think I will be able to resist the Sig 55X or the ARM. I want to handle a PS2000 first, but it looks tasty.
Link Posted: 1/17/2006 1:33:36 AM EDT
1. Both the Scar L & H if they come out.
2. I have the Sig ordered if they come out.
3. I have a XCR ordered.
4. Thinking hard on the FS2000 and PS90.
5. If I get a big enough bonus from work maybe the POF upper or SPAS 12.
Link Posted: 1/17/2006 12:47:17 PM EDT
Definately one of the sig series rifles, or the Scar...
Link Posted: 1/17/2006 10:36:11 PM EDT
SCAR-L.

I'm glad to see FN coming out with the PS90 (as promised) and the FN2000 and am going to show my appreciation by getting a SCAR-L as soon as I can if it comes out*.

The SCAR-H is interesting for the 7.62x39 kick for me, but I wouldn't be able to justify another rifle just for the round. The XCR looks interesting, but it seems they have been running into continuous delays. The AUG's have never impressed me, but another evil rifle in the market isn't a bad thing. The SIG 550 rifles seem to be highly touted, but I don't see anything revolutionary there to justify MY money. Anything coming out of HK will be out of my price range so I won't buy one (not that I would have bought one in the first place).

*Since I'm only in my second year of college, I WON'T be able to buy it at introduction. I will be able to save for it and buy it within the first year, though.

Lots of unobtanium guns on that list.

Till they're on the market, it's not worth drooling over. I still highly doubt the Sig will EVER see American retail, the AUG too.
Link Posted: 1/21/2006 6:42:48 AM EDT
I hope they do market them to us lowly civvies...........I would definitely jump on a SCAR-L and possibly the SIG and FN2000. Now, we will wait and see what happens.

Went to a gun store today and handled (fondled and drooled all over) a PS90 in OD green, and I came really close to whipping out the plastic. I love the day/night sight system on it, and it feels really good to shoulder. I was thinking of not getting this in favor of the FS2000 (which I'm definitely getting), but I think I may re-consider...

I'll buy all of the ones that I can afford (read that as none)
