i'm looking for some dummy training rounds for a s&w xd .40 and some 7.62x39 for the aks and the sks. i'm sure i can find the .40 but the 7.62 i'm having a real hard time finding anything for. can you guys recommend good places to look for both at?

i'm not even sure the 7.62 exsist. i just can't seem to find any. but it would make my day.

thanks.

azoom has them.  scroll down til you find the 7.62x39.  natchez has them as well--under the pachmayr brand heading.  they are expensive though.

some people will probably tell you to just take a bit of pencil eraser and put that where the primer used to be.  but i don't know how well that will really work or if it is even a good idea.

yeish. 5 dollars a round is a little out of my price range, especially when i'm looking to have enough to simulate numerous failures accross several magazines. i dont particularly care about the quality of the round and have been very pleased with the 84 cent 12 guage rounds i have. i appreciate the link, but that is too far above my range to really begin to consider.

edit : i also didn't see them on natchez.  perhaps i'm blind.

CTD has them in .40 (5 pack, plastic w/ brass base) for $10.22 and the aluminium 7.62x39 (2 pack) for $7.26.  Less than five a piece but still pricey if you need a lot of them...

What about making your own by pressing cheap bullets into fired brass?

i've never reloaded and dont know much about doing that as an option. i considered it for a moment, but haven't spent much more than that. how hard would it be to do that?

Check with www.stactionpro.com

They have .40 dummy rounds for $.59 each.  They don't list 7.62 rounds, but can probably make them for you.  These are the nicest dummy rounds I've ever used.
