My CETME has been great after I did a very intense cleaning of it after a a several hundred round break-in. However, I do know other CETMEs I've seen and shot that had mismatching of parts, out of spec receivers, very poor workmanship, excessive headspace due to ground bolts, out of kilter sights and other quality issues. Many shooters and gun dealers just gave up on them after having a bunch of problems. Sooooooo-its a crap shoot on getting a good one. That said I think you can work on them and will eventually get a good shooting .308 for $300-350. But if you don't like to tinker on guns I wouldn't get one and you have to make sure the basic gun (receiver, bolt and barrel) are ok so you have something to work with. |

I have a perfect Cetme. In fact, I just refinisted it with park and moly and new wood. If you can find a good one, go for it. tinypic.com/ezkb2r Don't make it appear as it is too big. |

Took too much work modifying it to work right... but my main gripe was that mine took what amounted to a one-handed pull-up on the charging handle in order to rack it. Unlocking that action was like pulling elephant teeth. I wouldn't go the CETME route again... and quite frankly I wont go Century Arms at all... even though I really want a 5.45 and theirs is the cheapest. - BG |
