My dad came across a 1891 Mauser for $250.
Guy said it was made in Berlin and used in Argentina.

Is the gun worth looking into.

These were the Argentine Model 1891.
They were made in rifle and cavalry carbine models.

These were made in 7.65mm Argentine.

The rifles were made in Berlin by Ludwig Lowe.

Although these are not as strong or as refined a action as the later 1893, 94, 96, and 1898, they make excellent shooters.
They are NOT suitable for more powerful rounds like the .308 or .30-06.

For a period of time between WWI and WWII, European custom rifle builders made beautiful, light weight sporter's from the same action.

I have one of the sporterized 91 argentines,  It is a beautiful lightweight accurate gun.  Norma is the only hunting ammo available unless you reload though.  You may wish to price ammo for it before you buy if you are planning on shooting it on a regular basis.

I'm pretty sure both Hornaday and Prvi Partizan have brought out hunting softpoints and FMJ for 7.62 Argie.
