Anyone know where I could find one of these? I been wanting one for the longest time, and im just now finally trying to get my hands on one, I need to find out where to start looking and find out what price range they would be in.

Hello Tas,

I admire your taste but, the bad news is:
1) It would be a class III Weapon requiring licenses/mucho $$$ etc.
2) the rifle is scarce
3) Replacement parts are nil.
4) Ammunition and Magazines are proprietary and not often seen

with all that said, you are prob best off looking at one of the gun auction sites and mortgaging your first born.

Wasn't someone making/planning to make, a semi version of that?

I read something about it but it's been a while......

The real deal will cost into 6 figures I expect.  Dunno, never seen one actually
come up for sale.

What determines weather or not a weapon is Class III?
The fact that their scarce is pert of the reason I wanna get one. I wouldnt worry about the parts and whatnot, I think id probably take it out to shoot it once or twice, but thats about it.
If its as much as you hint at though, maybe ill have to find something else to spend me moneys on.

Thanks man.

We took one off of an Iraqi in Fallujah.  Unfortuantly we weren't allowed to bring it back with us.

We never could find ammo for it while we were over there.

FNM is starting to produce 7.92x33 kurz, so ammo isn't that hard to get anymore.  i remember seeing one for about $25,000 not too long ago( just can't remember where)  Sarco, IMA, and a few other places have replacement parts.  if you look around you can find them( and not as high as people would lead you to believe).

Seriously, are you fucking geeks so bored and hard up to be cool that you come on here and talk shit to everyone you get a chance to tlak shit to? Grow the fuck up.
Ive seen like 4 people called trolls today alone, you fucking geeks are the trolls, you have nothing useful to say, so why the trollish posts?

If you don't repeat the mantra, you are a troll.
If you happen to not know a lot about firearms, you are a troll.

Blah blah blah. Just don't pay attention to it.

Anyway, back to the STG44.  I'm still wondering if anyone makes
a semi version of the thing. I have a semi BAR and I enjoy shooting
it as much as the "real" one in my safe.  I'm just about ready to buy
a semi MG42 but a semi STG44 would top that I think.

Anyone know of such an animal?

There've been a few threads on it, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it.

I'm not the one calling the guy a troll, but a full auto Colt for 600bux?
We've heard that one before, eh?

I am saving $600.00, I didnt say it costs $600.00.  If anyone has anymore assumptions or questions about it, you can send me IM's, this is about STG44's, not trolls and the costs of automatic Colt CARs.

It looks like its kinda a lost cause if its gonna cost that much though. A semi-auto would be pretty cool to have also. Im gonna keep lookin around I guess.
Those of you who were helpful, thank you :D

StG 44.... rare... full auto, so it's class III...

I'd expect to pay $20,000 +... if you can FIND one.   And then find one someone is willing to part with.

I had a friend, dead now, died about 3 years ago, he had an MP43, most awsome rifle I've ever shot.

Brought it back from the War so it was somewhat lost in the system, unfortunatly it went to his heirs when he died and it has not been seen since.

It was once offered to me for one hundred sixty five dollars ($165.00), Stupid me was a little scared at the time, I dont do well in the big house. damned Illinois laws

I think there were some parts kits & East German ammo around ,Many moons ago (Like mid 1980s).
I think there were some semi auto receivers floating around at the same time.
But good luck finding one!

I got lucky enough to handle two of them and shoot one of them.  Both were captured here in Iraq two years ago.  Picked up 90 rounds of East German 1961 dated ammo.  Know of about 6 MP44s in country.  Don't know any for sale back home but SARCO does have some parts.

Cyclic rate was alot slower at 500 rpm than what I'm accustomed to with my M4A1.

Right off of I-5 near Eugene, there is a range called the Baron's Den.   Not my cup of tea, but in 1999, they had an StG44 or MP44 in the display case.  I believe it was for sale.

I mention this because the proprieter appeared to be into German militaria, and it's possible that he might know of one available.

There is also a place in Albany, OR, right by the train station, that has from time to time had interesting stuff like rare HK items.  Might also be a place to ask.

Less than 30 posts, you wanna spend 600 bucks on a full-auto M-16 and you honestly think cheap class III stuff is available, and to top it off you got the nerve to call someone else a troll?

Maybe you should go to www.full-auto.com   They have a lot more class III information there and you might be happier.  They maybe even have a 600 dollar M-16 in the equipment exchange over there.

Don't know what happened to it.  When we rotated back the paper work was submitted to retain it as a war trophy to be put in the unit museum.  Six months later when we returned it was gone.

Some pics-

The STG44/MP43/44 can be found fairly easy on the German civilian market; There is actually a company here that will take your deactivated STG44 type and reactivate it as a semi (The once a MG, Always an MG doesnt apply in Germany).

They are found pretty often in the Balkans as well....

Very serious resemblence to the HK 91/93/94 series of rifles in the way they take down and manufacture

Other way around.  MP44/STG44 were produced in 1944-45 (some 250,000).  The Spanish CETME was adopted in 1958 and the German G3 a year later in 59'.  Ludwig Vorgrimmler was the Mauser engineer working on the roller lock and with other Spanish and German engineers copied from the Sturmgewehr 44.  I made the same observation with the MP44 and a HK MP5 on hand.

8mm Kurtz has the same case head size as 8x57, which the .30-06 was based on.  Any case in the .30-06/8x57 family could be used to make 8mm Kurtz.  .30-06, .308, .270, 8x57, 7x57, .257 Roberts, .243.............

The roller-lock design of the CETME/G3 was actually taken from the prototype Mauser Stg45, not the MP44/Stg44. The MP44/Stg44 weapons are gas operated.

The layout and swing-down grip frame found on the G3 was indeed taken from the MP44 though.
