Old pic of the wall o guns in my closet. Recently the order of it all has changed. Magazines and pistols are in a different spot and yeh. But it gives you the idea. http://www.freewebs.com/carnagepool/DSC00185.JPG Basically its a 5ft by 5ft walk in closet. I bought one of these plastic shelving units. Used 4 of the 5 shelves so it fit against the far wall (if you are standing in the doorway) to the direct right of the shelving is a spot for my dress shirts for work. Above that shelving unit is one of those wire closet shelvings. To the right of the door is more of the wire shelving from about 2 ft from the floor and up. To the left of the door is the weapon wall which now dominates 2 walls. The one pictures is on the left wall, the pegboard peice is 4ft by 4ft. To the left of the pegboard, and on the same wall as the door, is more pegboard now. I use that for mag storage and pistol storage. Handy to have a few mags at the ready (Really havent started stocking up on mags yet). Below the main pegboard is the 5th shelf from the plastic shelving unit, ive set it up to use as a small table/bench. Its just workspace. Under the table is my 30 and 50cal metal ammo cans with my 4 calibers (5.56,7.62x39,.45ACP, 12gauge). Its basic, but it works for me. I had it setup differently before and the space was lacking, i trully love this new way. I found the best thing is to preplan it all. Next small project for it is odd. I found this stuff thats rubber dip, meant to be used on like tool handles to rubber coat them for grip. But im going to dip the pegboard hooks i use into it to rubber coat them for protection and grip on the firearms. ~Carnage. By the way, all of this, cost about 135, just takes a bit of planning. |
Chapper, I order you to immediatley watch Commando again.. Your memory is fialing on such an imoprtant peice of film history.. He choose a HK G3 from the shed, not a Polytech.. |

Ok folks, finally its finished for now and here are the new pictures. Picture 1:The reason i built the room. this..is my gunsafe, a homak. Not all to friendly to weapons with pistol grips, really built for bolt actions. So yeh, not enough room to store everything in there. http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/11.jpg Picture 2:Ok crappy MS Paint layout, just to use references for everything so yall can understand the placement. The room is too small to get long shots of anything, sorry. http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault/14.jpg Picture 3:This is a shot from my bedroom into the room. Spacious it isnt, but it serves its purpose. Here you can see my shelving unit and yeh, more pics of those, just giving you an idea of how small this thing is. http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/1.jpg Picture 4: Ok you saw this in the last picture, better closeup. Two 5 gal gas cans (not filled) incase of anything. Got my 4 hard cases and 2 soft cases (They are hanging to the left of the big white thing). Few flashlights, some stock parts for my shotgun (got like 3 stocks for some reason). Also multiple band hand radios and lots of chemlights. Love those things. The deal with all the white cardboard in the pics is the shelving unit has slots in it and i didnt want smaller stuff falling through. To the extreme right is a 15rnd shotgun shell sling/belt. That brown thing is my other stock for my Ruger Mini 30 when i go hunting (they dislike folders for some reason). (This would be the blue rectangle labeled B in the layout) http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/2.jpg Picture 5:The desk. This is the 5th shelf out of the shelving unit i bought. Couldnt put it on with the other 4 because of height reasons, so turned it into an amazingly sturdy little desk, again with the cardboard i know. Yes thats those dehumidifier pellets in the corner, im in florida afterall. (This would be the brown rectangle) http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/4.jpg Picture 6: Under the desk. Ammo cans. Left to right oder. 12 gauge, 5.56mm, 7.62x39mm, .45ACP. Think i got 200rnds of 12gauge, currently 150ish of 5.56mm (hey im new to my M4 so hush), 500rounds of 7.62, and 300rnds of .45ACP. http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/3.jpg Picture 7: Dun dun the weapon wall. Simple pegboard painted non white, i hate white by the way. Anyways, you can sorta see where this is, thats the shelving unit from picture 4. Ive got a better shot of whats to the left in that, so just bare with me. Pictures here (top to bottom). Norinco SKS, Ruger Mini 30, Olympic Arms K3B M4, Mossberg 500 5shot. (Obviously this is the green L labeled E) http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/5.jpg Picture 8:Ok this is the 2nd portion of the weapon wall. You saw the grip of that right most pistol in the previous picture. My Colt 1911 Commander Clone. Radon P-64 (Odd little gun), and High Standard Sharpshooter as was used by the OSS of WW2, hence why it looks so old, it is. http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/8.jpg Picture 9:Shameless plug, yeh i love my kabar. This is straight below the High Standard. http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/9.jpg Picture 10: Unlike some i down own 900 magazines (no offense.) Rifle magazines are 2 deep. Got 2 30rnd M4's. 4 30rnd Mini 30's. A 5rnd Mini 30 (for hunting blah). 3 8rnd 1911's. 2 6rnd P-64's, and 2 10rnd for the highstandard. And yeh there is the SKS's drum yet again. If you notice, this is all immediately to the left of the door. http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/10.jpg Picture 11: Immediately right of the door, some wire shelving. Yes thats my BoB and some reading stuff.(Piss green rectangle labeled D in the lower right) http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/12.jpg Picture 12: little closer look at my reading. No..im not a survivalist..i swear it!!!! http://members.aol.com/elaborategore/Vault2/13.jpg Hope yall enjoyed the tour ~Carnage |

Killbot: Thank you!! Man, I have been trying to find that piece of writing and the pics for some time now. I could not remember where the heck I saw it the first time. Thought it was just a web site. I don't know if bookmarking works on threads here but I am gong to try to stick that somewhere I can find it in the future. I'm about to build a cob/timber/stone house when I get back to the south. Looks like North Eastern TN will be the place. Anyhow, I want to incorportate something like that in the build. Dang. Thanks again. Triple thanks. |

Hey barkin, one peice of advice. There is a military manual on field fortifications, id look into getting yourself a copy of it. If you want to build a room like any of these seen, you really need it to be sturdy and there are some tips in the manual on stuff like that. Or any of the caching books, those are good too. I did alot of research before i built mine, as im sure alot of people preplaned before doing. So if i can give you any advice, think first, plan second, try to break your plans any way possible, rebuild your plans, then build. ~Carnage |

Sled...isnt it always a work in progress? LOL I do got one thing for you sled.. Its this stuff called "Plasti Dip". It seems you use pegboard too, so that means pegboard hooks. Metal isnt to kind to our guns. Anyways so i found this stuff, its meant for tools. You like dip your tools into this stuff and it coats the handles in rubber. Like the rubber grips of a pair of pliers yaknow? So what im thinking is that im gonna dip the pegboard hooks into the stuff to coat the metal parts of the hooks in the plastic, better grip and protection for my firearms. Found it at homedepot for like 5 bucks. It seems like a good idea to me. Hope you can put this to use Sled, afterall, none of us that build weapon rooms can know it all or come up with everything, so figured id pass on my findings of this stuff. ~Carnage PS: Feel free to pass on anything you learned the hard way too lol. |
Not a bad idea each leg of the bench a power outlet on it for the tumbler, casefeeder, and lights. another thing, I use free carpet samples for cleaning my guns on. oh and take a surf through here. this is where alot of my inspiration came from www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5485 |
![]() It's a Valmet M78 in 7.62x39...not a Chicom gun! |

Sigurd *Thwap* weapon rooms, not stuff on valmets or whatever lol. Anyways..sled..damn you. Thats alot of stuff and took me forever to read. Sadly its all reloading and i dont, and will never reload. 1)Never had to, have a personal contract with a gunshop. They get 500 round cases and sell to me without markup. All 7 of my firearms were bought from the gunshop so yeh, its a special thing. 2)My uncle used to reload, managed to damage his right eye from a bad load. Thats just turned me off to reloading in general. Soon (within 6 months hopefully) ill be moving from my 1 bedroom apartment to a 2 bedroom condo.... You all know what will happen..right? *Grin* gonna take the 2nd room and build a new wall, make myself a nice 8by 8 space or something. Right now im just cramped in there, but it works. I have to share the closet with storage and my dress shirts, not to mention its an apartment so i cant do too radical of renovations. Already removed a shelf, cant do too much more. Hopefully a mod can create a forum for this inside the armory..maybe. Alot of us have our own tips, either found or learned the hard way. And most people would like to build a weapon wall/room i bet. Safes are safe, but no fun! So yeh, a forum for weapon rooms pleeeassseeeeeee ~Carnage

I have a 4'x4' closet that I made into hidden storage for my guns and stuff. To make a door that doesn't seem to be a door is the hard part. I built a bookcase to fit the 4' opening and made a chase in the center for a 1" pipe which acts as a pivot. The header casing is removable and the side casing is fastened to the wall on one side and the bookcase on the other so that the whole thing can pivot around the pipe. The pipe fits in a socket on the floor and a bracket above. The bookcase rests on the floor and "v" lugs on the sides. When it's closed, with the top trim in place, it's solid as a rock and there's no clue it's a door. To open; the top trim casing is removed and the whole thing is lifted about a half inch with wooden lever jack that hooks under shelves at the center. There are two tiny holes in the base which allow the insertion of a straighteded coathanger to engage and disengage a lock that puts the weight of the bookcase on the center pivot to rotate the whole works open or closed. I had two burglaries where they carted off all the small appliances and stuff but they did not find the guns. Got the idea from old Abbot and Costello movies where they're in the haunted house. Oh, and don't bother coming to my house when I'm not here 'cuz I've got an alarm system now. Regards, Mild Bill |

very nice confusion. Only thing im wondering about is how big the room is, and why you never finished the ceiling. Other then that, very impressive man. As for you Bill, well damn dude. It sounds awsome, but i am having issues visuallizing it. As a update on the thing i mentioned before, the PlastiDip. It works great, but its a bit tricky. I thought itd be thicker, but it wasnt. On the bottle it says to wait 30minutes before dips and 4hrs before use. The stuff is runny, so when you follow the instructions of using a wire to hang whatever you are dipping afterwards..well gravity puts it all towards the end. I am using pegboard hooks. The smooth metal was first a problem but some sandpaper made them rough enough to help the stuff stick. After the first dip, the way it suggests, i went ahead and used a Qtip as a brush and applied the liquid rubber to the rest of the hook after the 30 minute wait.Twirling it was a good thing, kept it from dripping and kept more of the rubber on the thing. I ended up doing 3 dips per hook, not including the part that goes into the holes on the pegboard obviously. The result..is drying now. Ill take pics later, but ill say this so far. VENTILATION. It says it, but it needs to be bigger cause damn this stuff is so potent it made me feel light headed rather quickly. So yeh, do it outside. After the 3rd dip i stood the hooks on their non-rubberized ends (Part that goes into the pegboard) and am letting them dry for the full 4 hrs. When its the hooks on plastic, no worries. But since i have a hook supporting the barrel, dont want that to get scratched. Id look into this stuff if you plan on using pegboard, its at home depot for under 10 bucks for a can. I rubberized around 10 hooks..and there is still PLENTY of rubber left. Why pegboard and not other stuff? Versitile. I found a bunch of different hooks that i use for different thigs. HD 2inch double and single hooks for long guns, these odd drill holders(With rubber already on) for pistols, 4inch long single hooks, using two at a time, for large rifle magazines (IE: M4 mags. Got 6 on just those 2 hooks.) And then 2inch double hooks for pistol magazines. Yeh so i like the versatility of it and thought id share it will yall. Maybe ill take some pics and post them in a new thread. ~Carnage |

Alrighty folks. New thread's up. Still feel free to talk here, but i ended up putting all the ideas so far presented in one topic so people dont have to go searching through this one for what they want lol. Everyone is quoted for what they contributed, hope you dont mind lol. Didnt think yall would but yeh, i can edit if there is a problem. Here's the topic. Weapon Room: Ideas and Advice ~Carnage |
