How do you guys store your trunk guns to keep them from rust. I put a pellet gun in my trunk so if it broke down in the boonies I could shoot squirrels if I was stuck for days at a time. But after about a month the thing rusted to all get out. Pretty much trashed which is fine because it's old and cheap. So how do you guys keep them from rust?

Didn't come with any of that. Is there a place that sell the wax paper. And although I don't rust will hurt it, I also don't want it to look like...crap either.

+1 on the oil.

Make sure there's a light coat of oil inside and out, and it should stave off rust.

Or keep it in a case with some dessicant packs.

I haven't had a rust problem, but it's pretty dry here.

Oregon, rains 9 months out of the year. Probably not as bad Florida or some other really humid state but bad enough to be a concern.

Yugo SKS still in cosmo package + ammo. Also handy is a can of brake  or carb cleaner for when you need to use it and that cosmo has to come off.

Also, for blued rifles, i've had great luck with the new Flitz with Carnauba wax. rained for 3 days, and no rust on my AK.

Anyone eveer heard of, or try Binachi "blue bags"? They are chemically treated storage bags that prevent rust. I've never tried them but they were designed for storing firearms.

I keep mine in a US GI Surplus nylon case (meant for carbines), with a bag of dissicant.

I have a  Marlin 1894S lever gun in one of those silicon impregnated gun sleeves. The sleeve is inside a M1950 Parachutists Weapons Case. I check it once a week and it's still slick from the silicone in the sleeve.
The sleeves can be bought for around $8-10 at most gun shops.
The guns I don't shoot much are in the sleeves in the back of my gun safe.

Where are you in Oregon?

I’ve been keeping a bushmaster M4A3 in my trunk since the ban died and have not had problem at all with any kind of rust.

I just keep it in a rifle sleeve mard of old blue jean pant legs (denim Quigley Down Under). Really inconspicuous too.

Get a Kel-Tec SU 16.

That would be my trunk gun of choice...

Guncoated SKS, and if it rusts so what, go buy a new one for $149.00.

Hillsboro area. I did just get a new Saturn. Maybe my old car had bad seals.

Just reminds me they got a free pellet gun with the trade in.

Bicycle gun?

Perhaps a way of mounting it to the water bottle bracket?

I've always kinda been partial to shotties for trunk guns.  I can see both ways though.  I figure a good coat of oil and a silicone imp. gun sack should do fine for almost all MODERATE climates.  If you live coast side, you know how it goes, the car might rust out faster than the gun.

I've read on here that a M60 barrel bag will fit a folding stock AK. That sounds pretty good to me.

Why not just put your gun of choice in shrink-wrap? As long as it has a good coat of oil, it should be able to withstand years of storage.

It'll fit a Ruger 10-22 equipped with a Choate folder for certain........
A 10-22 folder measures out at ~27" so folding AK is good to go.....underfolders or AMD-65 being about 25" or so folded & Romanian/E German side folders being 26" & change.  Muzzle brakes or flash hiders might make it a tight fit.

I can't speak for others, but I have a "trunk gun" with me in the event that I need it. If I need it, I will need it quickly and having it bagged would be an impediment.

I cant have a trunk gun, too much hassle driving onto Fort Hood and explaining it whenever I get picked for a random search.  Its the worst feeling in the world knowing that each time you come on post it is like instantly moving from Texas to Massachusetts.

I can't have the trunk gun as well. The NYS Police frown at that.
