I have no idea what stock it's from.  Any ideas?

Uhh, I can only see the first pic, the rest are red Xs.

Looks like an M1 Carbine stock to me... but don't hold me to that.

Thanks for ID'ing that for me.  It came from my grandfather.  He served in the Air Force during World War II as a mechanic, and later went on to work at TWA on their large passenger planes.  He died in '84, I was barely 6 at the time, so never got to ask about where it came from.  He also left for me his Ruger Mk II, Remington Model 12-.22, and a Marlin in .22.  

Well now that I know what gun that stock goes to, now I guess I need to get the rest of the gun.  What is the best way to go about this?   Purchase a whole gun and just drop the stock?  Or get a parts kit, barrel, and receiver and build it myself?

I say build it yourslef.  My dad has a WWII M1 carbine, and it  is easy to disasseble.   You can still find WWII parts for these guns.  

Edited to add:   You can also buy a complete new M1 carbine from auto ordinace for about $450.
