Hello folks . . .

"Newbie" has some class 3 questions, and it's all CampyBob's fault  ! !   After BF last weekend I have decided to pursue the purchase of a Class 3 weapon.

So . . . .

would like something in 9mm caliber or 45 acp(cheap to feed).  Want to shop for either a Sten or an Uzi.
Stens are cheaper than an Uzi, and mags are around $3.00 each.  Uzi I am sure is a better built weapon and looks cool too ! !

So . . .

What will something like this cost me ? ?  Can I get one or the other in the $3,500 - $4,000 price range ? ? ?

So . . . .

any thoughts, ideas or opinions  on the Sten, Uzi or any other "pistol caliber" weapon?

And dealers - - - any in Ohio ? ?  I know several shooters at Tusco Rifle Club visit a "local" but need his name and phone number.

And . . .

since I'm new to this "sport" any other help / opinions / ideas would be GREATLY appreciated  !

Thanks,

Banker Billy

i saw a sten a few months ago at a dealer in WI for just over 3k.  i think an UZI will be closer to 5k.
good luck on your NFA endeavor!

First, come hang out in the M16 Forum here on AR15.COM. The discussions cover anything NFA related (suppressors, machineguns, AOW's), not just the M16 rifle.

Second, check out the following websites for NFA items for sale:

AR15.COM NFA Items For Sale

Subguns.com

Sturmgewehr.com

If you want the cheapest-priced 9MM subgun, check out the MAC.

The first question is what's your budget; what can you spend?  If $3500 is your max, then an Uzi is almost certainly out of the question.  You might get really lucky and find a screaming deal, but I wouldn't bet on it.  The going rate for full size Uzi's is $5k+ (in fact, I just sold my Fleming/IMI Uzi about three months ago for $5200).  If you can afford an Uzi, and are set on a pistol caliber weapon, I'd go for it.  Compared to many other comparable subguns like a Swedish K (which I've seen going for as much as $7500), I think they're a good value.  Of course, if you've got $5k, a Ruger ACC556 might be a better move as its in 5.56 and you can get a .22 kit for it.

Welcome to the dark side BeeBee2.

Sounds like you’ve got a plan formulated and I don’t mean to throw a wrench into it, but if at all possible, I’d recommend you pt together the scratch and get an Uzi. A Vector Arms gun is a great way to go, well built and registered in three calibers. I am very fortunate to have been able to get mine a few years back and haven’t regretted it one bit. I had to write one of those balance transfer checks to myself for part of it, but not that’s paid off and I’ve got my Uzi.

If not an Uzi or Sten, you might look at a little MAC; they’re pistol caliber and there area a ton of different things you can do to them.

If you're thinking UZI, then check out these sites:

Vector UZI's are going for about $5500 to $6500 now....   about 2 years ago they were $2800.  (That's when I got mine )

MAC 11's in 9mm can be had in the $3000 to $4000 range....
