I recently got a Remington 700 VS in 223, It has a problem feeding from the magazine on round #2 from a full magazine. Its only the second round and it kicks it out sideways when I push the bolt forward. Its fine because I usually single load it, but Id like it to be a reliable feeding weapon though.
Anyone have any ideason how to fix it?

Are you making sure that the rounds are seated fully to the rear?

I borrowed Innocent_bystander's .223 rem 700 for a class, and that was what I needed to do to make feeding smooth!

they are when I first load the magazine, but after shooting the rounds shift. If I push the cartridge back to the rear before I chamber the second it works fine. But when I continue to shoot thats when it messes up

soft points?  i don't think i've ever had a problem with a bolt action rifle, other than soft points not feeding in a mauser.
