I bought a stainless Remington 700BDL with comp stock in .300RUM.  It has a couple of nubs on the end of the stock and I need to know if I should dremel em out or leave them?   Also is glass bedding worthwhile on a composite stock?   Any other accuracy tips?  I'm putting an el cheapo Simmons Pro 50 Plus 4-12x50mm on for now but would also like some suggestions for a more appropriate scope as finances permit, I was leaning towards a Shepherd or Leatherwood.  Are these really as good as they claim?

Most of the time if you remove the pressure point from the factory cheap remington stock the gun will shoot worse.  Don't worry about it until you can afford to get a better aftermarket stock.  The Remington BDL stocks are just too flimsy.  Try to find a used HS precision stock in the EE or on Ebay.  Can't comment on the two scope choices, but I wouldn't have either one.  You could get you a Nikon Buckmaster for cheap and it would serve you well.

If you are going to bed a composite stock - use Marine-Tex. You can get it at any boat supply store.

On the HS precision stocks, does the 300RUM use the same stock as a standard 700 long action or is it a specific magnum length I need?   Also is Choate a quality stock?

The Butler creek stock is much better than the factory remington synthetic, it would be a good choice if your on a budget.
