I bought a Ruger Mini-30 with the intention of using it for hunting.  What do you Mini-30 owners think of this rifle in terms of accuracy, reliability, etc.

Thanks

bedding the action and pinning on a cheap (or expensive) muzzle break can cut groups in half and eliminate fliers. installing a smaller gas port bushing will reduce recoil/muzzle flip. reliability is excellent as long as you use reliable mags. for high caps, spend the money on ruger or PMI; the cheap ones are hit and miss.

everything you want to know about the mini 14/30:

What he said, with the addition of bedding the action into a synthetic stock.  Ram-Line and Choate have 'em.

I love mine. I gave up on high caps a long time ago, every single one i came across was pure shit. With the 5 round factory mags it is utterly flawless. Accuracy isn't as I would like it, but for a camp gun, truck gun, or woods toting gun, the mini 30 is awesome. It's plenty accurate for deer out to 150 yards, if you do what the guys above said you can stretch. The only beef i have is the rear sight sucks bad. I have read around and will be installing an m1 carbine rear sight.
