How much different from an AR15 is the installation of a free float tube on an AR10? I've found a reasonable deal on an AR10 flatop, but it has the standard furniture up front. I haven't looked at the rifle (AR10) close enough to to figure out the difference in the tubes. I found a picture of an AR10 tube, and it looks like the threads are external instead of internal like the AR15. ( Pic for the E.E.) Does any one have any pictures of the front of an AR10 upper receiver without the barrel installed, or any pictures that would help me figure this out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Scott. Edited to add: I think the picture I looked at is incorrect. Oh well, just another project!! |

I have a JP Custom float tube on a Eagle Arms 10. I purchased the barrel nut wrench from JP also. The 10's barrel nut is different than AR15 (larger diameter) so a new wrench is needed. I have never seen the factory float tube and barrel nut to know if the JP wrench will work as my Eagle 10 had standard handguards. My Eagle is a flattop so I used 2 pieces of machined Durlon on the top rail .to secure the upper in a vice. Same principal as AR15 just a different barrel wrench with the JP float tube. |
