Does anyone know if a 4-Screw Model 29 manufactured in 1958 could have come from the manufacturer with smooth mardwood presentation grips?  As opposed to the checkered grips of course.

Well, the Blue Book didn't list them. I would perhaps e-mail S&W & ask them or maybe check Roy Jinks' book.

Anything is possible.  You'll have to letter it to see if it came with specail order grips.  Try asking over at smith-wessonforum.com.
