Anyone have any experience with these?

I was thinking about the tactical with adjustable LOP.

Also, where's a good place to get one at below retail.

One more thing, anyone use the HS replacement triggerguard with detachable magazine?

The H-S Tactical/Police stocks have a fatter palmswell and a wider fore-end then their VS(Varmint Synthetic)line. There are also dual mounting studs up front for a bipod and sling. Some people like the fatter palm, some don't.I never liked the fatter palm, so I ditched the H-S Police stock that came on my Rem 700PSS and bought the AICS kit.The first generation of H-S stocks had the bedding block stop just after the action, but the second generation H-S stocks have the bedding block run from inside the palmswell, right through to the sling studs. The studs thread into the front of the bedding block rail. The other thing I noticed with the H-S stocks is that the bedding block dosen't always seem to  be set square in the stock.I have had 2 Rem 700 VS, and 2 Rem700PSS rifles with these stocks, and the barrelled action sat off to one side on ALL of them.On my VS in .308Win, I actually had to relieve the barrel channel to get a true free float. The barrel was actually touching the side of then barrel channel!!For the prices of these stocks I think they could pay a lttle more attention to quality control.

I have two of them. Are you tall? The adjustable LOP stock gets a little wobbly when it's cranked way out. I'm 6'6" and like a 14.5" LOP on my tactical rifles. I ended up using the standard HS stock then adding a 1" plastic spacer that I got through Brownells. Repainted the stock green and you can't tell that it's there.

Thanks for the feedback.  I didn't know about the quality control issues.  I'll have to look into that a bit more.

innocent-bystander, that's a good idea, an extra inch should do nicely, and save me about 100 bucks.

There is a difference between the stocks Remington uses and factory HS stocks.  The countours that the PSS and LTR have are even different from a factory stock.  I own and have seen lots of factory HS stocks and I have not seen any quality control problems.  Mine tit the action perfectly.  You also have the option of ordering a longer fixed LOP instead of the adjustable.

I noticed when I put my Remington action in my new HS stock that the barrel was closer to one side of the channel than the other. After the new Shilen barrel it fits right down the middle of the channel. Typical bent factory Remington barrel. I don't recommend that anyone lay a straight edge next to a factory Remington barrel. The results will cause you to loose confidence immediately!

Try Mike Green At Big Rack Sporting Supplies. His number is 972-412-6088 or 214-325-4816.

I bought an H-S tactical stock from him at a gun show recently. Really good price.

Also, I would definitely plan on epoxy bedding the action into the stock. If you don't know how, get a 'smith to do it. The H-S stocks need it.
