In another post someone asked, If you could buy any gun ? what about build it? here is one for
the machinist/gunsmith's, 1/4 scale GE 7.62 Mini Gun, i.e. in 22 cal. I know anything is possible to make in scale, just look at Conley's
1/4 V8 Cobra ( For you all that haven't seen one
go to his web site, very pricey, but really nice,
especially the motor with the blower that really works.) back to the challenge, don't know what the legal status would be, but wouldn't it be real cool to go the range and pull out a 22cal 1/4 scale mini gun.

I had the same question, and asked the guy who sells the receivers and parts to build one. You would have to get a license to build automatic weapons, and thenin the remote chance you could get some LE agency to write you a letter saying they would like to try one out (and what LE agency doesn't think they need one of these). Then you could build one, show it to em, demo it and keep it as a dealers sample. BTW the parts alone cost in the range of $30K, not to mention you gould go thru a couple thousand in ammo in less time than it took me to type this response. None the less, they are very cool. I don't know about scale models, ammo would be cheaper, but you still have the same hassles building one as building the real thing.

You could only build a post sample.

You could build a replica that fired .22's as long as there was no mchanical means of operating the trigger mechinisim, no electric or hydraulic motors.
Each barrel that fired would have to have it's own firing mechinsim and they could only operate in semi-auto.
You could use a hand crank, but then what's the reason?

It's legal if you have a Civil-War style hand crank turning the barrells (in .22, .223, .308, or whatever). The ATF considers such a gun to be a semi-automatic weapon (since continuous cranking is required to fire...)

Hook up any kind of motor or other automatic system, and it becomes illegal...

Go here : www.roderuscustom.tzo.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?s=3cb760d20564ffff;act=SC;c=1

Go in Information Exchange and then Plans and Blueprints.. There are prints for some type of hand cranked gattling gun..
Im sure you could re-design it smaller..

Oh yeah no funky gear ratios to speed it up.. 1:1 only ( I think )

Things are correct so far but...

The above paragraph is completely wrong.  A class 2 manufacturer does not need to get a LE letter to manufacturer the gun.  A C2 could make the post sample, sell it if they could get a LE letter and get BATF to OK it...  I have no doubt that this could be done.
