I take my son down to the bus stop this morning and I run into my neighbor who owns a local indoor range. He does all my transfers for me for $5, and we do some bird hunting together every now and then, but I almost never buy any guns from his shop. He doesn't really sell guns; range members can order anything they want for 5% - 10% over cost depending upon the level of membership, and there are always a dozen or so consignment guns at the range for silly prices, set by their owners.
He tells me this morning that one of the guys who had three guns up for consignement at the shop (and asking top dollar + 10%) just bought a new HD bike and needed to appease the SO, so he offered up the three guns at the shop for $1200. My friend wasn't interested so he asked me if I wanted them.
1. NIB Bushmaster XM15 E2S A3
2. NIB Arsenal USA SA-M7
3. Used pre-ban MAC-11 with a bunch of accessories
No tax, since he'll do it as a person-person sale (though I asked him to ask the owner if he would just do a private sale), but worse comes to worse, $5 for the NICS check.
I'll keep the Bushy and the AK, but leave the Mac for sale at the range. Currently it's priced at $400 (which is about right, given all the crap that comes with it), but I'll drop that down to $300 for a quick sale, leaving me with only $900 in the keeper rifles. Since that's not much more than he cost of the Bushy alone, I figure I'm just about getting a free AK out of the deal.
Of course, the way my life goes I'll show up at the range tomorrow to pick the rifles up and the guy will have changed his mind.
