I just did a trade with a friend for a complete 16" pre-ban upper but since the site search is down I can't look up the info on my own, so I enlist your help.

1)I'll start with the upper receiver markings: Flat top A3 with C then a A and F symbol combined behind the brass deflector. In front over the gas tube port is M4. No numbering on the rail.

2) Carry handle has the double AA on the left side. Sights are different, apertures seem smaller than usually.

3) Bolt has MP over C. Bolt carrier has a C on left side. Buffer end of carrier is also milled flat, not like most semi-auto carriers.

4) Barrel has C with M and P combined symbol, 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR

5) Front sight base has on right side at the gas tube portion B99, a circle with RI in the middle and a 2.

6) Has nice CAR style handguards, smooth shinny plastic not matte like some. I didn't remove the heatshields to look for markings.

Is this assembly Colt? I was originally planning on selling it to fund another project, but may hang on to it. If it is Colt, what would be the approx. value? Don't know how much it has been shot, but can't be much from the minimal wear.

By the way trade was for a SAR1, did I do ok?

Yep its a Colt, the C and A, F markings give it away. It sounds like one of the Colt "tactical carbine" uppers because of the HBAR instead of the M4 one.

The only "problem" with it is the Bolt/Carrier. Its a shaved one and is not as desireable as the older full circle ones.

Since you've got the carry handle, the bolt/carrier you're looking about $650 for it. If it had the M4 barrel you could get $750 for it.

Hope this helps.......

Around $650, guess I made out on that deal, now comes the tough part, keep it or sell it to fund another project.
