Bushmaster's website says that the max effective range of the round is 200 yards/meters, from a 16" 1:9 bbl

I thought the max effective range would be much longer- anyone care to explain this ?

If they are talking about expansion potential I would say that 200 yards sounds about right. As far as hitting something with it, the range will be a lot longer. But I agree with Troy, unless they really define what "effective" is, the number is meaningless.

I'm glad to hear that---for that much $$$, the round had better extend the effective range at least another 100 yards over the 150 yard fragmentation range of the standard .223 rounds (2700fps, yada yada) in a 16" bbl.

Someone needs to shoot some gelatin at about 250 yards with it now...ammo oracle???
