I am getting a Ruger M77 in stainless with the green laminate stock.
Which do you prefer to put on a stainless rifle, a silver finished scope or a matte black scope.
The rifle will come with stainless rings.
The main thing I have against going with the silver is that it is hard to match the finish of the scope with that of the rifle.

For a hunting rig, matte black is the way to go. I have even had my stainless .44 mag handguns bead blasted to a matte finish to reduce glare.

I have matte black rings and scope on my Rem 700 ADL mountain rifle, which has a dull matte stainless action and barrel.

I like the corrosion resistance of stainless steel, but it comes at a price!

silver barrel
silver action

if you have to ask i say silver scope
unless you get the whole thing refinsihed in a mat color.

why get a green stock?
i guess you can allways paint it silver

If it were mine I'd get Matte Black because:

-Matches more guns if you want to put it on    another gun
-Higher resale value if you sell it

Just my $.02

Get a set of the matte black rings and get a matte black scope.
The stainless/green/matte black is a different combination and should look good.
Keep the original rings, though.
A black leather sling would look pretty serious on this rifle.

The stainless/matte black combo is striking!

Thanks, I was pretty set on black matte.
There are more scopes to choose from in matte black anyway.
The Ruger M77 has a matte stainless finish already so it shouldn't be to reflective.
