Are the BAR of WWII fame and the current day civilian BAR related by name only?  Or perhaps they use the same action?

I promise you:  name only.  When I went into the Army, if you were 6 feet tall and weighed over 150 lbs., you got to be the BAR man in your squad. Guess who fit that description in my squad

Loved shooting that old thing though.  Hated carrying it, especially w/a full mag belt, but when range day came round, it was all worth it.

Wish I could afford one of the new semi auto versions.
