I was playing around with the bolt (out of the gun) to my Ruger 77/22 .22 LR when I somehow locked the bolt down. It's locked as if it were in the gun and ready to fire. In this postion, I cannot put it back in the rifle. I've tried playing around with the bolt to unlcock lock it; but to no avail. I know there's probably some really stupid way to fix this but I can't figure it out. The manual didn't say anything and the Ruger customer service number was disconnected. |
| I had this same problem with the Western Field I rebuilt for my son. Don't know if the bolts from these rifles are similar but what I did was grab the front of the bolt with my left hand. Then with my right hand on the bolt handle I twisted the bolt back into the position it is in when removed from the reciever. The firing pin rides on a shelf milled into the bolt body, it's in this position when removed from the rifle. It's not an easy feat, but it worked. Hope this might help. |
