Im watching Full Metal Jacket and was wandering what cal. the M60 he's blasting away with. What is the ratio of ammo to tracers on his belt. Favorite movie!!

The M60 chambers a 7.62X51mm NATO AKA .308 Winchester round. There are no other chamberings to the best of my knowledge. The ammo mix is 4 ball to 1 tracer in a standard issue linked belt.

When I graduated Parris Island in 1976 as a 17 year old & went to Camp LeJuene, I was handed a M-60 upon my arrival in the 6th Marines. Every other firearm since then has been kinda anti-climatic. Sigh. >gg<

Never tried that but I did shoot a slug with a BB gun once......messy!!!
