Stopped by at my dad's house yesterday. Before I left I had a new toy: A Sheridan air rifle! No big deal, I know, but still very cool. He upgraded to a RWS and gave me his old pop gun. He uses them for squirrel control on his bird feeders. |
| A Sheridan "Silver Streak" nickel .20 caliber air rifle was my first "gun" -- almost 20 years ago. I still have mine in very good condition, and every so often, I will get it out to shoot. Brings back great memories of my best friend and I hiking through a field next to his house putting hundreds of pellets through them. We went through several of those 500 round yellow boxes of pellets. We definately built up the arm muscles using that gun. I guess that rifle started me off to bigger and better things. |

Hey, gus: I'm glad your Dad's around to give you the gun. That's excellent. Remember the story I shared a while back about getting my Dad's .22? He died in 1975, so, it was about time I got it! It was really cool to get it all these years later, though. Your story makes me feel good. And good for you. Right on. |
That's exactly how I feel about it. The old guy is 87 years old and can still out shoot just about anybody I know (although his vision is starting to affect this). I used to have a Benjamin .22 and he used that for squirrels for years until it wore out. I think it's still in the attic down there. He bought the Sheridan when I left in the early `80's, and to be honest I don't know what made him decide to replace it. He usually uses things until they no longer work and can't be repaired. Maybe the sights on the new one are better for him. Either way I was thrilled when he gave it to me! It's yet another keeper from dad. |
I spent several hours this past weekend plinking at cans, etc., off my back porch. I also fealt very lucky! I think I'm going to hang some gongers off the old clothesline pole in the back yard so I don't have to keep going out and stand stuff back up! Plus then my nephew would have something to do when they visit. |
