Can anyone tell me which barrel they prefer and why. I have to decide on one and would like some advice.
Thanks in advance,
Ed

Chrome lined.  Easier to clean, doesn't corrode, pit, or rust, and lasts a looooonggg
time.

For a target rifle, moly, because gives better accuracy than chrome.

Chroming is NOTORIOUS for pitting, chipping, flaking, and cracking. I dare any AR15.com member to take a 500-700x bore scope picture of a chrome lined AR barrel, ANY chrome lined AR barrel that has 1000 rounds through it or more and post it here.

The military M4 SOPMOD project is having NIGHTMARES with this. 600 rounds of sustained full auto is all it takes to rip the chrome from an M4 barrel.

Chromemoly all the way. OR, better yet, 416 SS.

I have placed this challenge several times on these boards:

Show me documented proof of a chrome lined bore having a longer barrel life than the same unlined barrel under equal conditions.

No takers yet....
