Eotech 550 MS or Aimpoint Comp ML2???  Pros and Cons please.

Well, the ML2 is very good, just a small red dot. Both are paralax free. The ML2 uses regular AA batteries but the EoTech 550 uses strange batteries which are kind of expensive. I would recommend the EoTech 552 over the 550 because the 552 uses AA batteries, can function longer with the larger batteries, and is NV compatible if that is of any interest to you. The EoTech's use a dot witha  circle around it as the reticle. The dot is 1 MOA but the circle is larger. The ML2 dot is about 2.5 or so MOA (I am not sure anymore). Both are great but the ML2 is cheaper than the 552. You might like the 550 but I would recommend to get the latest and the greatest.

I would skip the EOTech if I were going to do it all over, too little battery time, finicky electronic(in mine, anyhow, don't know about anyone else's) and a very fuzzy reticle. Mine's being sold to my dad.

The ML2 is very rugged and sturdy, but rather heavy and bulky. If that's not a concern, I'd got with the ML2 over the EOTech. There's another high end option, though.

Have you checked out the OKO as a competitive alternative to the EOTech? Czech military uses them, same HUD style design, but cheaper, lighter(2.3 ounces), more compact, and very tough, even more so with the optional metal protective hood.

Between my dad and I we have 5 OKO red dot sights, and we use them. For everything but the very harshest of physical abuse, I would mount them on anything I would trust my life to.
