is it worth it to buy an a3 rather than just go with the a2? and what would the price difrence be on a busmaster shorty a2 vs a3?

It depends on how you want to set it up. An A3 weapon is always better for scopes because of the lower distance to the bore center. If you are planning on using irons exclusively then the A2 is a good choice. I don't know the diffrence in cost.

No cost when its a complete weapon. If it is just a upper. You can order one without the handle. Bushmaster sells A3 handles for $99.95.

You might as well go with the A3, you have alot more options that way.
