Glad to see some interested. Guess I will have to repond to this post on a regular basis to keep it at the top for greater exposure. Wonder if this thread could get one of those neat red tacks. Who do you have to know around here?
 I would like to get a rough number before choosing a date, but please chime in about date preference. Note though, since this is "seasonal and tourist area" traffic on the weekends is a bitch! Plus the heat factor. Want to have a good time, but not 3 hours in traffic and 90+ degrees aggrevation. My personal preference for a date is mid to late September. Crowds are gone, traffic is not as bad, kids back in school, great weather, and plenty of time to plan this. 223REM |

I was wondering the same thing. I normally leave my PIC weapons at home when travelling to PRNJ. If I was allowed to bring some of the nicer toys out to play it would be great, but would it be fair to all those poor NJ residents.

NO !!! Please be very careful when you travel into this evil state! Here are some pertinent laws: N.J.S. 2C:39-6(g) "All weapons being transported under paragraph (2) of subsection b., subsection e., or paragraph (1) or (3) of subsection f. of this section shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances." So keep your firearm unloaded and in a securely tied package and store the ammo separately (i.e.: firearms in a tied box stored in a locked trunk, and ammo in the back seat stored in a closed ammo box). Any additional precautions like adding a trigger lock or lockable gun case or dismantling your firearm is totally voluntary. And remember you are only allowed to deviate in your course of travel as reasonably necessary under the circumstances. In other words, don't pack your firearms in your car on Monday for a trip to the range on Wednesday. This also applies to out of state residents. (continued) |

"Large" Capacity Magazines: (over 15rd capacity)
NOT ALLOWED y. "Large capacity ammunition magazine" means a box, drum, tube or other container which is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm. Water guns, paper airplanes, toy guns, fresh air, slingshots, carbonated soda: NOT ALLOWED BTW: BB & Pellet guns are considered FIREARMS in the PRNJ. You need to obtain a pistol purchase permit in order to purchase a "pistol" variant and a FID card to purchase a bb rifle! |

NOTE: POST-BAN guns such as the Colt "Sporter" rifle and the Bushmaster post-ban line ARE permitted. Thank goodness that the idiots in Trenton haven't started down that path yet... Here's the text of the NJSP decision on this matter: Both the Division of Criminal Justice and the State Police Firearms Unit have received a number of inquiries whether the Colt Match Target Rifle and the Springfield M1A are considered assault firearms under New Jersey law. Based on our review of the law and the Attorney General guidelines, we conclude that neither of the two firearms are prohibited under State law. The Colt Match Target Rifle, based on the manufacturer’s specifications, is a new line of rifles and is not part of the AR-15 series, and thus, is not prohibited under N.J.S.A.2 C: 39-1w(1). Although this new rifle, may resemble the Colt AR-15, there have been substantial changes to the firearm, including the receiver which is not identical to an AR-15 receiver. In addition, because of changes in the configuration of the firearm, the Colt Match Target Rifle is not substantially identical to a prohibited firearm and prohibited under this classification. |

Hollowpoints you say?
Provided certain conditions are met, a sportsman may transport and use hollow point ammunition. There are no restrictions preventing a sportsman from keeping such ammunition at his home. N.J.S.A 26:39-3f. (1) limits the possession of hollow nose ammunition. However, there is a general exception which allows for the purchase of this ammunition but restricts the possession of it to specified locations. This exception provides that: (2) Nothing is subsection f. (1) shall be construed to prevent a person from keeping such ammunition at his dwelling, premises or other land owned or possessed by him, or from carrying such ammunition from the place of purchase to said dwelling or land . . . [N.J.S.A 26:39-3g (2)]. Thus a person may purchase this ammunition and keep it within the confines of his property. Subsection f. (1) further exempts from the prohibited possession of hollow nose ammunition "persons engaged in activities pursuant to N.J.S.A 26:39-3f. . . ." N.J.S.A 26:39-3f. (1). Activities contained in N.J.S.A 26:39-3f. can be broken down as follows: 1.A member of a rifle or pistol club organized under rules of the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and which filed its charter with the State Police; 2.A person engaged in hunting or target practice with a firearm legal for hunting in this State; 3.A person going directly to a target range, and; 4.A person going directly to an authorized place for "practice, match, target, trap or skeet shooting exhibitions." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As with other ammunition and firearms, a sportsman would have to comply with the provisions of N.J.S.A 26:39-3f. and g when transporting hollow nose ammunition to a target range. The ammunition should be stored in a closed and fastened container or locked in the trunk of the motor vehicle in which it is being transported. The course of travel should be as direct as possible when going to and leaving from the target range with "only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances." N.J.S.A 26:39-3g. |

Well...what's your status?I know we live in a messed up state, but things could be worse, like California. Yikes! Anyway, the best bet would be taking some time to organize this properly so there are no mistakes made. Feedback has been real positive so far, so the next step would be coming up a date that is suitable for most people.
