While discussing home defense awhile back someone brought up the point of volume and how a loud gun in a small space with unprotected ears could result in a temporary hearing loss/damage.

Whether or not its a valid concern, I'm wondering if theres a website anywhere that has a dB chart of different firearms/ammunition types?  Thanks..

Yes, I have one. Shoot me an e-mail @ [email protected] & I'll send it to you.

As an aside, virtually no one has hearing loss from firing a weapon under stress. The adrenline takes care of that, the term, IIRC, is "auditory exclusion".

The noise still does physical damage to the ear and ear components, even if you are experiencing stress induced auditory exclusion.
