My carry guns now are gov model .45, Para P-12(most of the time) and .380 colt mustang very rarely carry this gun only when I need somthing small and a 380 is better than nothin. but when I do carry the 380 I feel undergunned and would like somthing that packs a little more punch but is still in a smaller size I was looking at a .38 special snubby those look pretty good, but is the 38 any better of a stopper than the .380? I reload alot of .45's so I was wondering if anyone made a smaller .45 revolver that way i could shoot it a bunch. I remeber a while back S&W was making a 9mm revolver so maybe someone has made a .45acp? |

.38 looks like a lot better bet than .380, on paper, I have forunately avoided having to shoot anyone. There might have been S & W .45 acp revolvers that were not full size, but I think it was still a "mountain gun" or at least a frame bigger than the J frames. The only big bore little revolvers I have seen are the ones made by Taurus, they have .41 mag and .45 long colt, but I don't remember a .45 ACP. |
I don't know for sure, but I'll go with no -these are not "interchangable" cartridges like 44 spec/44 mag & 38 Spec/357 mag -I would guess that 45 acp generates pressures that a 45 long colt gun may not be designed to handle -although the bullets are both .4515" a 45 acp case width is .473" at the bullet end and .476" at the primer end while a 45 long colt is .480 inches it's entire length. A 45 long colt case is also longer 1.285" v. .898" |
