Just picked up a camp 9 by marlin and I was wondering if it used S&W 59 or 69 mags? Also all you 9mm shooters, what would be a good all around load to use in this rifle? I want something that will work on four legged critters and will stop the two legged variety God forbid that it should it come to that. Lets see the opinions. |
| The Camp 9 will use 59 series magazines. IIRC, even USA mags work ok in them, but it's been a while. As far as ammo; Since I shoot a LOT when I go, I always bought the cheap stuff (FMC bullets). Should you want to scope it, I had a Simmons 2.5x20mm shotgun scope on mine, and it was a perfect match to the gun. |

- Both the 59 and 69 series mags will work fine. I recommend staying away from the $20 cheapo mags. Find some old factory S&W 12-rd 59 mags and you will be quite pleased. - As for ammo, my tests showed the best velocity gain from the Camp Carbine's barrel with 115 or 124 grain ammo. Above that, celocity was either unaffected or went own slightly. I recommend the CCI Gold Dot, 124gr. +P is ok, but do not use +P+ or NATO ammo. |

Do NOT use +P or +P+ ammo in your Marlin Camp Carbine. It is not rated for this ammo, and it WILL wear out your gun quickly, as others have learned. Standard S&W 59-series mags hold 15 rounds. 69-series hold 12 rounds. 59-series mags will fit in 69-series guns, but usually not the reverse. There are some aftermarket 30-round mags out there. -Troy |
