what is the twist rate of a colt sp-1. barrel is marked "CMP Chrome bore", came with triangular handguards.

Bleeding out

The old 1 in 12 rate is what caused the 55Gr bullets to tumble when they hit, wasn't it

1 in 14 is what did that.  But it wasn't stable to -70 (or some such ridiculous temp) per MilSpec.  So the twist was tightened to 1-12.  The early 16's that made it to Nam had the 1-14 which is why it had such a great rep early on, but when it was standardized, it had the new "improved" 1-12 twist.

All of this is out of my flawed memory so please correct me if I am wrong!
