Hello everyone.  So I am in the middle of my first ar 15 build and I am looking to give my firearm a unique look; however, I don't want to go the cerakote route because I am the type of person that likes to change things every so often.  So cerakote refinishes wouldn't fit my budget.  I've seen krylon used a lot and I was wondering if anyone has had success with rustoleum metallic spray paints.  I like the color options here.  If you've had success with this paint I'd appreciate any pointers....multiple thin coats? dry time? and clear coat? how did you prep your firearm before applying?....anything helps.

Also, pictures?  Thanks everyone.

I did a Tokarev using Duplicolor "cast iron coat" engine enamel.  It has lots of flake in it and looks a deep granite color.  I'd recommend that one.

Well I went ahead and painted with rustoleum metallic.  I used the "aged copper".  The firearm took the paint well.  I will try and get a pic up after the build.
