| I'm seriously considering purchasing this rifle : http://www.snipercentral.com/scriflepackagedetails.phtml?packageid=2 : but the only finish they offer is Cerakote. I contacted them and asked if for an additional cost if Trinyte coating (same as on Remingtons XCR ll) could be used but to no avail. Is there anywhere I can send this rifle after purchasing that can do the Trinyte Black finish and how much would it cost? Or is it really any better than Cerakote? Thanks in advance for any replies... |

Looks like that coating is proprietary. Not to mention, a PVD system.
There are some companies out there that do offer PVD services, but it won't be cheap. Probably multiple times what the rifle will be worth. What is the rifles intended purpose? If you will be taking care of it at all, I don't think you would be disappointed in Cerakote. If you plan on constant abuse with no maintenance, then no coating is going to be a silver bullet. |
| Well I intend on it being my primary hunting/target rifle. I want to take it to Alaska for big game hunting and will be hunting on my land here in KY. I fully intend on taking good care of it considering I want it to last my entire life (possibly pass it down if I can). But I've read several places that Alaska is hard on rifles even with the proper care. I just want to make sure I get the best rifle I can if I'm gonna sink the money into it ya know? |
