I am planning on doing cerakote in FDE to my rifle but i had a question to see if anyone has done it. I would like to preserve the engravings original black color somehow, do a temporary fill in so it can be removed afterwards and have a reverse fill kind of deal. Has anyone had this done to their rifles? If so how? My local guy that will be doing the job says he cannot do it therefor i will have to do a black color fill.

Paint it.

Then get a black laquer stick and color over the engravings. It's like a crayon, but for engravings

I did this to  my latest build. FDE receiver and then black Testors model paint over the rollmark. Wiped the excess off.... took about 5 minutes.
