I'm taking the plunge, I'm going to apply a foliage green moly resin to my Alpha rail.

I've done quite a bit of reading, and as always with the internet, some people say you can apply it to a matte finish anodizing like the Troy alpha rail, and some say it needs to be media blasted.

I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with it, and how durable it would be on the Troy alpha rail's finish as is.  Reason being––I'm not really in a good location for media blasting, finding a metal shop somewhere is a bit of a challenge.

Not sure about  moly-resin, but I do a lot of Cerakote and that usually needs to be blasted.  If there is any teflon or oil of any kind, it will ruin the finish.  If I was in your area, I would offer to blst it for you.  You may want to try your HTF.

Wash it down with brake parts cleaner and paint away. Moly Resin is super thin stuff. No reason to blast anodized alum.

Yes..... Just clean the rail thoroughly and spray on directly. Moly adheres the anodizing very well. If the rail has been in service I recommend heating it up in the oven for 15-20 minutes and then re-cleaning it before spraying. You would be amazed at where oil and lube will get into. The heat will draw it out. I've found Moly to be the easiest heat cured to use. Moly REALLY adheres good on Parkerization, but will not to blueing. Blueing must be sandblasted (not Glass beaded).

I like moly resin.

dont remove the anodizing, I have used it and found it sticks very well.
my oldest job is an OD green 7 years ago and its held up better than cerakoted work.

its too bad they only have basic colors of molyresin.

I just checked, it's Type 2 anno with Teflon.  Should I get it roughed up a little?
