What does the Flat clear do for the paint job? Nice paint job BTW.
And the reason you don't see a thread like yours in this forum is because there is a refinishing sub forum in the armory section.

Durability.

I hate this answer.

I second the need for a dedicated rattle can AR thread.

How much does it actually help? I am thinking about spray painting mine.

Good job!

If I ever grow tired of my FDE, that's what I'm doing.

Got this planned for my 5.45 once I get rails on it.  Mine will be more of a woodland color scheme instead of desert.

A ton. It will not smudge off when handling. It also helps to keep the camo pattern. If you just leave it, when you grip the rifle the brown will mix into the OD and will rub off your camo pattern. Its like a sealant for the pattern. Just coat the entire rifle twice. Make sure not to get too heavy when spraying or it will run way easier than normal spray. Also, do not use old clear, as it will turn yellow.

I wanted this in the general AR discussion because it is an AR pic thread. Just like the FDE, OD, Foliage threads. Plus i figured it would give new people new ideas for a color.

Just started this project, my first rattle can and first camo job.  I've done a spray and bake finish on a 1911.

I've got it all apart for the first color, then will put it together for the color.  I have forest green and brown to add to it.

ETA: Free handed the stripes.  Over sprayed from a distance with the both browns to mix the colors a little.

Just missing the clear.

Here is my new creation. I used my camo SBR Colt lower from a few years ago and did a new Integrated suppressed 22LR upper. All Krylon.

Turned out pretty good.

It's a hell of a shooter even out to 200yds.

Thinking of doing the rail covers and the AFG2 that I just got last week and slapped on for a shoot lastweekend.

YHM 13" Diamond Series FF rail (for idea of length)

How's that funky little Nikon working out for you. I'm thinking about getting one for my 30/30.

Actually I was going to buy and try it for a quick test out. Then I used it alot for the past few weeks and have fell in love with it. The glass is great and the knobs are nice a crisp.

I bought the set up at WalMart expecting to take it back after a few days but it will stay where it is at now. That's why it wasn't painted yet. I will be working on it later with paint.

I also like the Nikon Spot on site for use with their scopes and your choice of ammo. It is pretty much on par with what they have listed.

Krylon Camo and some sagebrush. Good luck finding it if you drop it in the high desert....
